The сircular dichroism (CD) spectra of the cholesteric liquid-crystalline dispersions (CLCD) formed by double-stranded DNA molecules at various parameters of these particles (size, cholesteric pitch, etc.) have been calculated. Besides, the CD spectra in the case of colored antibiotics (analytes) interaction with DNA molecules in the content of dispersion particles were calculated. It was shown that an abnormal band in the CD spectra represents, by itself, a simple, convenient criterion, which allows one not only detect the presence of analytes in solutions being analyzed, but evaluate their concentration. It opens a possibility for the using CLCD particles as the biosensing units for analytical systems dealing with detection of colored antibiotics.

Key words: cholesteric liquid-crystalline dispersions, circular dichroism, abnormal optical activity, “quasinematic” layers, antibiotics
