Статья посвящена анализу и обсуждению существующих тестовых изображений для оценки остроты зрения – оптотипов – и их
размещения в таблицах. После изложения истории появления и эволюции оптотипов сделана попытка их классификации и анализа
направлений их совершенствования. Рассмотрены следующие разновидности оптотипов: буквы, однородные конфигурации,
периодические паттерны, исчезающие оптотипы, рисунки простых предметов и тестовые стимулы, включенные в более крупные
изображения. Сформулированы общие теоретические и практические требования к оптотипам. Более детально проанализированы и
обсуждены специфические достоинства и недостатки ряда популярных оптотипов. В последнем разделе рассмотрена история
создания таблиц для оценки остроты зрения и совершенствования их дизайна. Сделано заключение, что единых универсальных
“золотых стандартов” ни для оптотипов, ни для дизайна таблиц не существует: их оптимальная структура зависит от цели
исследования, характеристик исследуемого контингента и квалификации исследователей. В любом случае исследователи должны
иметь представление о достоинствах и недостатках выбранных тестов и принимать их во внимание, как при разработке
протокола процедуры, так и при интерпретации получаемых результатов.
