В обзоре рассмотрены основные морфологические аспекты организации слуховой области коры больших полушарий у представителей различных отрядов плацентарных млекопитающих. Приведены современные данные о подразделении слуховой коры этих животных на субдомены. Подробно рассмотрены особенности структурной организации первичных полей слуховой коры. Излагаются имеющиеся на сегодняшний день морфологические данные о вторичных слуховых полях. Отдельный раздел обзора посвящен описанию системы связей слуховой области коры. Данные рассматриваются с точки зрения возможных гомологий в организации слуховой коры у представителей различных видов млекопитающих.
